Mad About Cartoons

Bill Wray is trying to make the transition fine art but is known as a cartoonist, a background painter/ Art director and sometimes animation director. This will be the place he post his ocasional animation and cartooning work and also be a place to bitch or wax sentimentally about cartoons in general. It’s been a love and hate relationship for many years and the long journey may not be quite over.

Stephen and Me

There were many hands helping me with the Ren and Stimpy cartoon Sammy and Me from Bob Camp an Jim Gomez with the story to the reason the cartoon looked pretty good was the major lifting done by Stephen DeStefano who's cleaning up my shitty doodles on the storyboard made it shine. If you look close you can see a little of my drawing here and there, but the majority is him. He was also nice enough to do finished out drawings for key acting moments because the studio took layout away from me on this one as they were closing out the cartoon forever and it became all about the budget. We stared the trick everyone routinely does now to get around the loss of layout, over drawing the boards.

Awww, why didn't you do this version of Sammy & Me? Where Ren reads Stimpy the book? That's much more heartwarming and Spumco-like. It also makes for a better transition for Stimpy's hijinx with Sammy.
