Super Girlz

This was a development idea for DC comics that was a bit of fun. The idea was to do the girl hero's as a Bratz kind of deal for animation. As thin a concept that is they it was really nice to work for on this one as the boss was real flexible and it was fun to do cartoon like attitudes of the characters. I looked a bit at Katie Rice and Shane to get a feel for silly big head girl poses, (not my forte) but managed to stiffen the poses a bit anyway. I believe what happened was a bunch of artist were hired to do the same concept. I don't know if the thing made it out of house to be pitched at the networks or was killed internally. It's to bad as I'd love to see a "tween" romance comic from DC.

totally cool stuff man - i love your cartoon material...SO unparalleled
Thanks guys you will be happy to know I'm slightly back in the game, doing a short Samurai Jack story for DC right now...
Cute stuff! A new SAM JACK comic by you? NICE. Can't wait.
Oh man, they need to make this comic!! This is too good!
beautiful colors. I'm curious about your execution. painter? or some custom photoshop brushes? or some other process completely? the textures give a nice feel.
CB-- don't get to excited, it's just 4 pages.
R-- that would be fun. might be a palce where all the cool girly cartoonists like Shane and so many others could work.
Kat-- I hate to break it to you. It's painted with a Winsor Newton brush, by hand... ;-)
Ohhhh man. I thought you had stumbled upon a super secret technique which produced great textures that felt organic (I understand that Painter has some capacity to get some decent textures).
The edited sketch under it kinda threw me off. I guess nothin can really touch traditional materials in the organic textures department.
looks great though sir.
love this one. I agree it sure would be cool to see a tween comic like this.
It's nice and all but where's Eva Braun?
Very cool! An all girl superhero show would be a really interesting concept.
Can't wait to what Samurai Jack goodness you're working on.
We should team up on this, it could be cool.
